NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Awareness - Online Delivery - Justice Institute of BC

This course focuses on the recognition of a hazardous materials emergency, personnel safety, hazard assessment, and the notification of the emergency response team using safe, practical, defensive actions - critical components when dealing with a hazardous situation. This course is designed to meet NFPA 470 (Awareness Level) Professional Qualification accredited by International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) and National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board).

Please note that this is an ONLINE course, with student access open from August 1-15 . Following completion of the online content, students must coordinate a time with a station officer to proctor the online exam. JIBC Proctor forms are found within your JIBC learning management system and will become available upon start of the course.

Registration closes on May 15 @ 0800 hrs due to registration submission deadlines with the JIBC. Students missing this registration window are not guaranteed registration into this timeslot and may need to register into a later offering from the JIBC.

You may work at your own pace but must complete all online learning by August 15.

This course is approved for 8 hours of training time.
