Dozer Boss - Hinton Training Centre (Expression of Interest)
Registration for Expression of Interest Closes on March 24, 2025. Successful candidates will be notified upon confirmation of enrolment from the Hinton Training Centre.
Description:
This course presents the information required to make effective use of bulldozers and heavy equipment in the construction of dozer fireguard and helispots. This includes safety considerations, wildfire assessment, attack methods, fire behaviour, strategies, tactics and administration. Reclamation and environmental concerns are highlighted throughout the course.
Prerequisites:
- Alberta Wildfire Orientation (Online)
- ICS I-100 (Online)
- Fire Weather Index System (Online)
- Mapping and Standards (Online)
- Experience in wildland firefighting and the operation of heavy equipment (dozers), preferably in a forestry/land clearing capacity.
Students must review the Industry Canada Radio Operators License study guide. The radio operator's license exam will be given with the final course exam. (Students with some or all of these will be required to show proof of completion.)
